This is the next game I'll be playing. I started my new save. I'll be playing as the Earth Federation. I already completed the first four missions without too much trouble. They were very easy.

So far, I've been using this Mobile Suit, the Ground Type GM: This is just one of your garden-variety Mobile Suits. Not to bad, but not too good either. It can be outfitted with either a machine gun or a beam rifle. At this point in the game, all I have is the machine gun. You have to manually reload it, which can be a bit of a pain when you're in the middle of a firefight. For melee combat, it's armed with a beam saber, but it isn't as good as the other Mobile Suits in melee combat. Usually each Mobile Suit has a 3-hit melee combo, but the Ground Type GM only has a 2-hit combo. So far, I only have three of these Ground Type GMs, but I'll get more and better Mobile Suits as the game progresses.

I finished Missions 5, 6, 7 and 8. They're still pretty easy in difficulty, but they increase in difficulty as the game goes on. Didn't get any new Mobile Suits yet, though.

I've completed Missions 9, 10, 11, and 12. Once again, they're still somewhat easy in difficulty.
One of the missions involved protecting some supply planes as they flew across the battlefield. The enemies have the annoying habit of attacking the planes outside the marked combat zone, where I can't lock onto them or move in to attack them.
I also received several new Mobile Suits, another Ground Type GM, and a couple of Ball Mobile Armors.

Here's a picture of the Ball: This is the weakest Federation unit in the game. It's main (and only) weapon is the cannon mounted on the top. It packs a bit of a punch, and it can be used in "artillery mode", which gives it a much longer range. It can use its pincer arms for melee attacks, but I don't recommend this, since a lot of other enemies have much stronger melee attacks, and chances are you'll get a good chunk taken out of your health, if you aren't destroyed outright. If you're good with it, this is a relatively good Mobile Armor to use. But otherwise, don't use it unless you absolutely have to.

Due to wall-to-wall coverage on FNC, I'm back to playing Gundam. I finished a few missions, including the first two missions that take place in space. Space combat is a lot harder than combat on Earth or in low gravity battlefields. I've also gotten my first standard GM, which I've pretty much trashed in the two space combat missions. Good thing the next few missions take place on Earth. LOL Unlike the Ground Type GM, the standard GM can be used anywhere, on Earth, in low gravity battlefields, and in space. Unfortunately, the standard GM is a step down from the Ground Type GM. It's only main weapon is a beam pistol with a very short range (otherwise it's too inaccurate to be any good). It's sub-weapon is a pair of head-mounted vulcan guns which are good for finishing enemy Mobile Suits off, but not much else. Like the Ground Type GM, the standard GM is armed with a beam saber for melee combat, which is always a plus.

And here's my Mobile Suit fleet so far (the more stars next to the name, the better it is overall):
Ground Type GM ** Ground Type GM * Ground Type GM Ground Type GM GM (Less than 50% HP left) Ball * Ball

After that most recent mission, the Medea Supply Corps repaired all of my Mobile Suits and brought in two new ones. One was an upgraded standard GM, the other was a Ground Type Gundam. The Ground Type Gundam is by far my favorite Federation Mobile Suit in the game. It's pretty dang powerful and can be armed with a variety of weapons, including a machine gun (that's manually reloaded like the Ground Type GM's), a beam rifle, a bazooka, a 180mm cannon, and a missile launcher (which I never use since it's so crappy). At this point in the game however, all I can use is the machine gun. As a sub-weapon, the Ground Type Gundam has a vulcan gun mounted in its chest. Unlike the standard GM's head vulcans, this isn't good for much of anything. The Ground Type Gundam is also armed with a beam saber for melee combat, which is pretty good.

The vast majority of the missions so far have been "test pilot" missions, where I test out new weapons and mobile suits. Those are pretty easy.
One of the missions I just completed involved defending some supply planes as they flew across the battlefield, and was also the first underwater battle of the game. Later in the game, the Zeon will get Mobile Suits dedicated to underwater combat, which will make things a bit harder for me. This isn't a problem right now however.
And now I'm allowed to use the beam rifle for the Ground Type Gundam. It packs a pretty good punch. ;D

I played a few more missions, and they're starting to get a bit more difficult. In the game, missions are marked as being Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, or Very Hard. So far, most of the missions have been Very Easy or Easy, with a few of Normal difficulty.
One of the missions I did this time was one marked as Very Hard, though this was less of a real mission and more of a mission they put in to make the game true to the anime. If anybody here watched the anime, this mission is basically the scene where Garma Zabi gets killed.
I only had to destroy one enemy Mobile Suit, and had my first encounter with a Zeon Ace (each side has Ace pilots that show up in certain missions, in this case, it was Char). Aces are big pains in the aft end and have a lot of HP. I got Char down to about half health (with Amuro's help) before he left the battlefield and the storyline played out.
Now, I'm either at or getting close to (I haven't checked yet) the first of three big campaigns in the game, Operation Odessa, the Federation attack on the largest Zeon base on Earth. All of the missions on the map are marked as Normal difficulty or higher right now.
I also got a lot of new Mobile Suits, including an upgraded Ground Type Gundam, a Guntank, a Guncannon, and a captured Zeon Mobile Suit, the Dom.
I also got all of the equipment for the Ground Type Gundam except for the missile launcher, and the beam rifle for the Ground Type GM.

This is the Guntank. It's a Mobile Suit designed for long range attacks. It's main weapon is the pair of cannons mounted on its shoulders. It's sub weapon is the machine guns mounted in its hands. Both of these can deal huge amounts of damage, and the cannons can be used in "artillery mode". Since the Guntank is designed for long range combat, it has no melee attack. Pressing the Melee Attack button will fire its hand-mounted machine guns.

This is the Guncannon, a Mobile Suit meant for mid-range combat. It's a bit of a step up from the Guntank. The Guncannon's main armament is the pair of cannons on its shoulders. These cannons can be used in artillery mode, and can deal quite a bit of damage, but they aren't as powerful as the Guntank's cannons. Also, as a "sub-weapon" (not really a sub weapon, since it's fired by pressing the Main Weapon button), the Guncannon carries a beam rifle. It deals a nice amount of damage, but it's slightly less powerful than the Ground Type Gundam's beam rifle, and has a smaller ammo capacity, which isn't good since all beam weapons in the game (including the standard GM's beam pistol) charge one shot at a time. While the Guncannon doesn't have a melee weapon, it can do hand-to-hand melee attacks. It deals a pretty decent amount of damage, and it's funny to have it go "kung-fu" on other Mobile Suits. Overall, despite its shortcomings in the beam rifle department, the Guncannon's a pretty decent Mobile Suit. It's cannons can do a bit of damage at long range, and it's beam rifle is good at closer ranges.

This is the Dom, the latest addition to my Mobile Suit fleet. It's a Zeon Mobile Suit, but the Federation was able to capture one and give it to me for me to use. I had my first encounter with the Dom in a mission I played through last night, where I attacked a squad of Doms doing combat testing. At this point in the game, the Dom is not yet in widespread use. Right now, the main Mobile Suit the Zeon uses is the Zaku II, with a few older model Zaku Is being fielded once in awhile. Later in the game, this will become the Zeon's main Mobile Suit. Despite its size, the Dom's pretty quick and maneuverable. While the other Mobile Suits walk/run (except for the Guntank, which moves on treads), the Dom is outfitted with hover jets in its feet, allowing it to skim over the ground. The Dom can only be used on Earth, but there's another Zeon Mobile Suit, the Rick Dom, that's basically the exact same thing, except it can be used in space and low gravity battlefields. The Dom's main weapon is a giant bazooka, which can deal a good amount of damage. It's sub weapon is a low-powered scattering beam gun that I never use, since it does no damage. For melee combat, the Dom uses a heat saber (basically a superheated blade). It's pretty effective in melee combat.
