One of the two new video games that I got for Christmas. The game begins with the main character, the Furon alien Cryptosporidium-138, who took over the United States by impersonating the President. The Soviets (this game is set in the 1960s) saw this as a threat, and launched a missile at the orbiting Furon mothership, destroying it and killing another Furon, named Pox, that was conducting experiments up in orbit. A KGB agent tried to kill me, and the game begins in earnest. So far, I only have one weapon, the Zap-o-Matic, which is pretty good for now. The enemies so far are police and KGB agents, which aren't that much of a problem yet. I had to go to a landing zone, where an Arkvoodle statue is. There are many of these statues throughout the game. You're supposed to talk to them, they tell you what to do, and you do it to activate the landing site for your flying saucer. I was able to call in the saucer, but the engine is damaged, so I can't fly it yet. I have to go find some datacores, and that's where I'm at now.

The datacore has been found, but as far as I know, the engine on my saucer hasn't been repaired yet. I've gained two new abilities, PK (psychokinesis) and the use of my jetpack. With PK, I can levitate and throw objects, which was useful in the first mission, where I threw a dumpster through a gate to break through hit. The jetpack enables me to jump. I wasn't able to do that for the first half of the mission. This game's a bit of a free-roamer, similar to Mercenaries and Grand Theft Auto. It's made by the same people as Mercenaries and the Star Wars: Battlefront series (Pandemic), both of which are good. And, fortunately, unlike Mercenaries, I don't get penalized for killing civilians. I probably killed about 10 in that first mission. The mission ended with a cutscene with a major KGB agent, Oronchov, and his assistant. Oranchov was surprised that I survived his attack, and says he needs more and bigger weapons to deal with me. When I start playing again, I'll probably do some exploring of Bay City, the first city in the game, based on 1960s San Francisco and chock-full of hippies.
